Medical Marijuana Resolution, Passed by Yukon NDP 2010

Policy Statement 1:
 
Support bilingual, accessible, affordable, quality health and social care legislation, programs and services providing full spectrum care with continuity of services integrated in a system of professionals meeting high standards working their full scope of practice.
 
Goals:
  
YNDP (Yukon New Democratic Party) promote legal access to medical marijuana and a dispensary type system and other alternative health therapies
  
Ensure health care funding is through general government revenues, not premiums.
  
Ensure accountability by making public every year a collaboratively developed contract, between the government and any organization providing health and social services on behalf of the government (corporation or NGO), outlining expectations in the planning, delivery and reporting of health and social care services.
  
Ensure there are no extra billing charges and hospital user fees for Yukoners
  
Widen Medicare coverage and include low cost natural treatment options when and where patients and doctors agree on them
  
Develop a plan for midlevel medical practitioners who will improve access for Yukoners to quality and cost effective treatment including dental procedures
  
Promote sustainability of health care system by ensuring that homecare, nursing and homemaker services are integrated as an essential component of the system
 
Ensure Nurse Practitioners are working at their full scope of practice by investing in collaborative care planning and implementation
 
Ensure that emergency medical and crisis intervention services are available to survivors of the varieties of suffering including all violence, addiction, and mental health issues and are integrated with longer-term options and services in other departments
 
Promote a plan to address rising costs included but not limited to acute care, pharmaceuticals, and fee for service
